Free 'Save on Gas' Tips
Do you get a full gallon of gasoline at the pump? Sometimes we have to pay twice as much on gas and even do not realize this. Gasoline prices are pretty high, but we can try to get our money's worth for each gallon of gasoline with a few tips at the pumping.
First: Pump is not a place for rush.
At the gas station pump, notice that the every nozzle has three settings: slow, medium, high. You should select low setting, and avoid high or fast mode. Every hose has a vapor return and when the fuel is set on high it increases the vaporization, so gasoline returns to the ground. We are going to gas stations to get gas into the tank, not to the ground, aren't we? So, you think of your money? Don't rush. Take it easy, try to fill tanks pretty slow.
Second: Collect $200? No, thanks.
You worked hard for your money, did you? Don't forget it. And you want for it that gasoline you paid for. So don't try to collect your $200 when you see at the gas station that a gas truck fills the storage units. Keep driving, go to another gas station. Because in that case gas would be stirred up by process of filling the storage unit. If you fill the tank at that time sure can get dirt particles in it, actually not so few of these dirt stuff going from the storage tank bottom.
Third: Better time for buying gasoline is the Morning.
Just 1-degree temperature change makes a significant difference in how much gas value you are getting.
The cooler - the denser. So is the Gas. It expands by temperature rising. That's why gasoline is more valuable in the morning. Here you are getting less so-called fluff for each gallon filled, whereas later in the day by temperature rising the value decreases. So the best way is to buy gasoline on the way to work rather than in the evenings. Note that gas prices are all day the same, in spite of the temperature changings. Actually, gas stations do not really care about it. It's your deal. Don't forget about it.
Forth: Try to keep your tank as much full as possible.
If you see that you have only half of a tank, the time is right to fill up. The more gas you have in the tank, the less less gas will evaporate. Because there'll be no room for it. Otherwise gas evaporates very fast. All in all it's worth to fill up before the tank is empty, if you think of money saving.
